What is the Proven IT Data Collection Agent?
The DCA is a lightweight, secure software installed on your network. It monitors print devices and collects performance, meter, and supply data to automate service and support.

Does the DCA collect personal or sensitive data?
No. The DCA does not collect user information, document content, or any print job data. It only gathers operational information like toner levels, page counts, and device alerts.
How secure is the DCA?
The DCA transmits data securely using HTTPS with 128-bit SSL encryption. It operates using outbound-only SNMP communication and is hosted on Microsoft Azure’s private cloud with region-specific data storage compliance. It is fully HIPAA and SOX friendly.
What are the installation requirements?
Minimum for <500 Devices: Dual-core desktop CPU, 4GB RAM, 100GB disk
Recommended for <5000 Devices: Server-class CPU, 4GB RAM, 250GB disk
Compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux. Must be networked and able to reach all managed printers.
What ports are used by the DCA?
The DCA uses the following ports for communication. Internal ports are used within your local network, while external ports enable secure outbound data transmission to Proven IT’s cloud services.
Please ensure these ports are open for outbound communication on your firewall and network security settings.
How do I install the DCA?
- Download the installer from the link provided by Proven IT.
- Run the setup and enter your license and 12-digit activation code.
- Allow the software to scan the default IP range.
- Confirm successful install by checking for three green status indicators.

Can I keep FMAudit installed?
Yes. Please do not uninstall FMAudit during the transition. Both can run in parallel until the switch is complete.
How is device traffic handled?
The DCA uses a smart IDENTITY Loop that only polls online devices, minimizing network traffic and maximizing efficiency.
